You are a cross-country skiing enthusiast. Can you tell us more about your favorite sport?
I have been practising cross country skiing on amateur level since I was 20 years old. This sport has become very popular in Czech Republic! When I started with cross country skiing, there were a lot of downfalls and tumbles when I looked like a snowman… Many times I was bogged down in deep snow when I experienced really hard time getting back on track. Today, I regularly compete as hobby skier in long-distance competitions. Last winter I took part of the Jizerska 50 competition, a fifty kilometre race that is attended by over 5000 skiers.
You are quite an accomplished athlete! How do you implement these benefits in practice to meet your work challenges?
I work as a marketing specialist at ENGIE Services Czech Republic. Through sport I can relax, gain energy and recharge my personal batteries. Relaxing in snowy landscape fulfils my mind with new ideas and creativity which are essential for this kind of job!
I also think that challenge, endurance, “don’t give-up” approach, honesty and fair play have their relevant place both in sport and at work.
Can you tell us a fun fact about you with your sport?
Another chapter is ski waxing – when I started with cross country skiing, I only bought one red and one blue ski wax. After many slippery and sticky tours I realized that ski waxing is real chemistry. Now thanks to my husband – service man – we have huge box full of dozens of waxes, waxing iron, scrubbing brushes, thermometers – a small scientific laboratory!
