Solar energy is one of the pillars of ENGIE’s growth strategy. By 2021, the Groups aims for more than 8.8 GW of solar capacity around the world. It is with this ambition that on 1 and 2 February, the ENGIE Solar Community gathered in Deauville, France, for their first international convention.

In addition to networking, the event had three major objectives:  first, looking back and celebrating the achievements of 2017; second, discussing the challenges, opportunities and targets for 2018 and beyond; and finally,  clarifying the interactions between ENGIE Solar and the other colleagues within the ENGIE Solar Community.

The purpose of ENGIE Solar, formerly Solairedirect, is to unlock and share its vast experience in developing utility scale solar PV projects throughout the Group; to offer expertise and support to the BUs on the business development side as well as provide a strong EPC platform with centralized Engineering and Procurement functions. The ENGIE Solar Community englobes all people in charge of solar, whether in the BUs, Métiers, entities or research centers.

Jean Rappe, CEO of ENGIE Solar, is happy with the outcome of the convention: “During the past two days, by bringing colleagues together who work on solar around world, we have ‘physically’ given shape to the ENGIE Solar Community. For the participants, it was not only an event to hear about the strategy, targets and organization; but especially also an opportunity to meet, exchange and get to know one another better ; and appreciate the mutual add value that people in the Community can bring to each other and the business.  The close and trustful collaboration within the ENGIE Solar Community will be key to achieve the Group’s solar ambitions.“
