Contributing to harmonious progress also means fighting global energy poverty. Through the ENGIE Rassembleurs d’Énergies initiative, we support the projects of social entrepreneurs that promote access to sustainable energy for vulnerable populations in 15 countries.

Did you know that over one billion people worldwide do not have access to energy? More than one in four people face fuel poverty in Europe, and nearly three billion people lack access to clean, safe cooking solutions. Because access to energy lies at the heart of the fight against poverty and climate change, in 2011 we created the ENGIE Rassembleurs d’Energies investment fund to support the long-term growth of socially committed companies that offer solutions to energy-deprived populations.

Developed in four different continents, these solutions cover a variety of technologies, ranging from energy efficiency in social housing in Europe to personal solar systems that use “Pay as You Go” technology – a cellphone-based system-management and payment solution – in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Not to mention renewable power micro-grids, improved solutions for biogas and biomass, and more energy efficient stoves.
