The MV Werften order concerns two cruise ships and two other optional ships, which have, with 204 000 tons and 2500 cabins, a comparable size to the Harmony of the Seas, the largest passenger ship in the world.
Special attention is given to the project’s environmental dimension through major performance commitments and a selection of high energy efficient equipment.
“This new implantation in Northern Europe is confirming the international development of our Marine department, already present in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, and Brazil. It also illustrates our expertise in XXL cruise ships such as the Harmony of the Seas delivered in 2016, and 4 new cruise ships currently under construction.” says Philippe Le Berre, Managing Director of the Marine and Oil & Gas department at ENGIE Axima.
A unique consortium for an XXL order
ENGIE Axima and the Finnish equipment supplier KOJA Marine Oy, who have already worked together on similar large cruise ships, have joined in the AXIKO consortium led by ENGIE Axima. This partnership allows KOJA Marine Oy to benefit from ENGIE Axima’s experience in large scale projects, and puts ENGIE Axima in the position of dedicated technical interface for MV Werften.
“We offer our experience to MV Werften as well as our ability to bring proven and effective turnkey solutions, says Philippe Le Berre. Our consortium has proven to be a real strength for the preliminary technical discussions.”
The design and the commissioning will be carried out jointly by the two partners ; ENGIE Axima will be in charge of the assembly and the pre-commissioning of the equipment as well as of the overall project management.
The design and engineering have been launched and installation works are expected to start in early 2018, for a delivery of the first cruise ship in 2021 and the second one in 2022.
