6/12/2017 – On the strength of our wind-power leadership position in France and in line with our strategy to make digitalization a major focus area in its transformation for greater efficiency, we  decided to open up to the public the data of the “La Haute Borne” wind farm (in the Meuse department), which is operated by our ENGIE Green subsidiary.

The farm’s 4 wind turbines have been providing electricity to 7,300 people since 2009, thus avoiding around 12,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Through this open and transparent approach to the operation of a wind farm, we intend to bring together a community for the benefit of improved wind turbine operation and to help develop the services that the farms provide to the regions, by capitalizing on the increasingly large amount of data available.

The data are published under the Open License version 2.0 published by Etalab.

We are seeking to innovate in our ways of working, by interacting to a greater extent with our stakeholders: new business models, building bridges between sectors, and co-developing projects with customers. That is why ENGIE France Renewables is working closely with determined local authorities, start-ups, and industrial companies from other sectors to come up with solutions that are the most suited to tomorrow’s world.

ENGIE FRANCE RENEWABLES ACTIVITIES

A major player in the production of green electricity in France (12/31/2016)

  • 1st wind power producer with an installed capacity of 1,730 MW
  • 1st solar power producer with an installed capacity of 522 MWC
  • 1st alternative hydropower producer with an installed capacity of 3,820 MW

Making the energy transition a concrete reality

With an energy mix consisting of more than 60% renewables, we are one of the largest producer of renewable energy in France. Our Group is putting its bets on low-carbon energy and is taking part in the development of the industrial sectors of the future in order to provide its customers with a greener, more diversified, more local, and more reliable energy supply offer.

As a true pioneer in renewable energy production for more than a century in France, our Group is continuing to grow thanks to the France Renewables activities, via five technologies: photovoltaic solar power, onshore wind power, fixed offshore wind power, floating offshore wind power, and hydropower. The mission of ENGIE France Renewables, entirely devoted to developing renewables in France, is to be a showcase of the Group’s industrial excellence in that field and to lead the way in innovations that are transforming the global energy landscape.

Buoyed by its leadership in wind and solar power in France, our Group decided to drastically speed up its growth in order to progress even faster than the rapidly expanding market. By 2021, the objective is to more than double the wind and solar capacity, to continue its emblematic offshore wind projects, and to reassert its position in hydropower within this balanced renewable-energy mix.

To achieve this, we are banking on innovation in all its forms, whether they be digital, technological or in our operating methods.

To successfully enter the digital era means freeing up a huge performance potential for our facilities. The digitalization of our processes has become a reality within the Group and one of the major focus areas of our innovation policy.

As an industrial company, we also want to play a role as technology pioneer. In particular, that involves marine energy, the development of hydrogen, and all ways of combining renewables production and energy storage.
