Carole Le Gall, CEO of the France Networks BU, organised half a day of encounters and exchange to present the decentralised, decarbonised and digitalised solutions of two of its entities: CPCU and CLIMESPACE.

Operator of the urban district heating network in the Paris area, the Compagnie Parisienne de Chauffage Urbain (CPCU) produces, transports and distributes heat to meet the heating and hot water requirements of housing and the public/private tertiary sector in Paris and the immediate surrounding area. A Local Public Enterprise and a subsidiary of ENGIE, CPCU is the delegate of the public heat distribution service of the City of Paris. As such, it operates and develops the largest urban heat network in France. Thanks to its energy mix, with an emphasis on energy from local, renewable and recovered sources, CPCU is a privileged player in the City of Paris’s Climate Plan and in sustainable urban planning.

CLIMESPACE has been operating and developing the cooling system of the City of Paris since 1991. This other subsidiary of our Group, which manages its large heating and cooling networks, meets the refreshment needs of 550 major tertiary customers: hotels, department stores, offices, museums, etc. CLIMESPACE is part of the Networks Division of ENGIE Cofely. It specialises in the local production and distribution of renewable energies.

Towards an optimal quality of life in Paris

On Tuesday 5 June, therefore, three visits were scheduled in the heart of Paris: the Eiffel Tower site, where work will continue until 2024 to give the Olympic Games the welcome it deserves; the dispatching of CPCU, a stone’s throw from Bercy, which ensures the interface and coordination between the production and distribution of heat at all times; and CLIMESPACE’s Canada facility, located in the 8th arrondissement, which collects water from the Seine to produce iced water.

Excellent first field visit which showed me specifically how ENGIE is improving the quality of life of the Parisians, while enabling the City of Paris to achieve its climate objectives. It was an exciting afternoon with the very professional and committed teams of CPCU and CLIMESPACE. My thanks go to Carole Le Gall and Camille Bonenfant-Jeanneney who guided me in this discovery. I would also like to thank Isabelle and Pierre for accompanying me!” Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, Chairman of the Board of Directors
