Our Group is accelerating the deployment of its strategy to lead the energy transition by setting up a global entity in charge of developing its activities in the green hydrogen markets. Franck Bruel, Executive Vice-President, in charge of France BtoB BU, explains the creation of this new entity, its ambitions and scope.

Could you present the new entity in a few words?

Franck Bruel: The aim of this entity will be to establish the guidelines for our industrial and commercial development in green hydrogen, to develop its own industrial projects, build strategic partnerships and firmly support the initiatives of ENGIE’s local BUs around the world.

The newly created structure will bring together the strategic forces already working on these markets, namely the teams of the Key Program Green Hydrogen and Hyco (The Hydrogen Company).

What are its ambitions?

Franck Bruel: Thanks to the in-depth work of our teams of specialists, we are certain of the strategic importance of hydrogen in tomorrow’s energy mix. The entity thus supports our ambition and is making it a reality, with a global scope, namely by ensuring a leading position for ENGIE over the entire value chain of green hydrogen, from production to supply for the industrial consumer, and including green mobility and storage. The alliance with Total is the first step.

When will it be operational and what about its scope?

Franck Bruel: Michèle Azalbert, who will work under my supervision as of December 1st, will be in charge of setting up this entity. From the months of February/March we’ll be able to provide details of our global roadmap and markets.

The scope of the entity will be global: it will enable ENGIE to position itself in the most promising geographical zones and the most promising markets of the future.
