ENGIE joins the Paris 2024 Committee as Official Partner!

News

We have become the 16th Official Partner of the candidacy, reinforcing our technical commitment to Paris 2024.
Less than 100 days ahead of the final vote by the International Olympic Committee in Lima, designating next September 13th the city which will host the 2024 Games, the Paris 2024 committee has just signed up a new supporter. We have become the 16th Official Partner to commit itself, alongside the Paris candidacy, to helping France win. A major energy transition player, our Group has already been working for several months alongside Paris 2024, particularly on the energy and environment section of the technical candidacy package. Also, the site of Plaine Saulnier Sud, which currently houses ENGIE’s R&D Department, a few meters away from the Stade de France and the future athletes’ village, will be partly released by the group to enable the construction of the future Aquatic Centre, the only sporting facility which would be built if Paris secured the 2024 Games. paris_2024_photo IK
Isabelle Kocher: “It’s a great pleasure for ENGIE to make its partnership with Paris 2024 official. We share the ambition of environmental excellence and sustainable territorial development along the Paris-Seine Saint-Denis axis. With Paris 2024, we are supporting an Olympic and Paralympic Games which is line with the Paris Agreement’s objectives and we are proud of it!Tony Estanguet, Co-President of Paris 2024: “We are very glad to welcome ENGIE, with which we have already collaborated, as Official Partner. Less than 100 days away from the designation of the city which will host the 2024 Games, this new partnership confirms that our project is attractive. It responds to challenges which go beyond sport and attracts the best France has to offer.”   This partnership marks a new step in our collaboration, which today finds expression in the slogan “Let’s share the energy revolution”. A slogan right in line with our commitment to the energy transition. This is an ambition which the Paris 2024 project has held from its inception. In line with the IOC’s Agenda 2020, Paris 2024 has been working together since the start of the candidacy with private and public stakeholders and associations like Yunus Center or WWF France to strengthen its ambition in terms of sustainability. Paris 2024 is thus the first candidacy committee to be ISO 20121 certified. By organizing Games with a carbon footprint reduced 55% in comparison with London 2012 and Rio 2016, Paris 2024 will be offering the most sustainable Games in history.
