Our ambitions in BtoB

We are one of the global leaders in energy services with a turnover of 16 billion euros in 2016, ahead of Vinci, Sodexo and SPIE. We help our customers in industry, in the tertiary sector or local authorities manage their infrastructures. “We work in energy, but our customers are asking us to do more and more,” explains Claude Turbet, Managing Director Solutions for Businesses (BtoB métier).
For example, we manage not just the energy, but also technical operations in the rooms of the Hotel InterContinental in Paris. We’ve just been awarded a contract for the London Underground, a city where we already manage all the installations of the Olympic Village. We’ve won a contract to manage the energy on the campus of the University of Ohio, in the United States (410 buildings, a contract worth 1.2 billion dollars over 50 years), we manage the production and sales of steam and electricity for DSM, Novartis and Syngenta in Switzerland, we’re carrying out renovations in 140 schools in Paris as part of an energy performance contract with the City of Paris… In France, 40,000 of our employees work in energy services, in our subsidiaries ENGIE Cofely, ENGIE Ineo, ENGIE Axima and Endel ENGIE. And the activity is still growing! “We’re expecting a turnover of 10 billion euros in France in 2022. The profitability of this activity hasn’t stopped growing for five years,” says Claude Turbet.
What about internationally? “In a few years’ time, we plan to double the number of countries where we are the leader,” says Isabelle Kocher. “This is already the case in seven countries.” Our Group is the market leader in France, Belgium, Italy, Chile and Switzerland, and is targeting Australia, the United States, Brazil and Mexico, notably through acquisitions: Ecova and Opterra in the United States, Keepmoat in England and, recently, Tabreed in Abu Dhabi.

Our ambition for 2020: to considerably strengthen our presence by doubling the number of countries where we are the leader, as well as our footprint in facility management services.
