Nuclear safety: an essential stake for our Group
News
On January 20, 2017, Didier Holleaux and Ana Busto, Executive Vice-Presidents, visited the Doel4 unit of the Doel Nuclear Power Plant in Belgium.
Ana Busto and Didier Holleaux were considerably impressed by the sheer size and technology of the plant and equipment, but more importantly by all aspects of HSE: the access procedures, the attention given to safety (nuclear safety and safety at work), the housekeeping, the radioprotection procedures and performance, the firefighting equipment and precaution.
Ana Busto and Didier Holleaux talked with the teams about their work, but more particularly about the prevention of accidents.
"Although safety is a never ending task, to be adressed and improved day after day, this visit gives us confidence in the way our colleagues in Doel are working and pride in what they already have achieved." Didier Holleaux
Nuclear Safety, our top priority.
During the next 5 years, we will invest 1.8 billion euros in nuclear. The major part will be devoted to extend the safe operation of the Doel 1, Doel 2 and Tihange 1 units. 500 million euros will be dedicated to improve the design of our installations and comply with increasingly stringent safety requirements.
